The dream died Thursday morning for Yellowknife curler Kevin Koe.
His team Canada rink lost to the U.S. 5-3, meaning the best Koe can do now is a bronze medal.
Koe, widely recognized as one of the best curlers in the world, put his team together with the stated goal of winning gold in Olympic curling in South Korea.
However, his hopes were dashed by the U.S. which beat Canada twice in the competition.
The loss means Canada’s run of men’s curling gold at the Olympics ends at three.
The U-S will now play Sweden for gold Saturday while Koe and Canada take on Switzerland tomorrow for the bronze medal.
