IRC Native Hockey Tournament Gets Underway in Inuvik

It’s time again for the annual Inuvialuit Regional Corporation Native Hockey Tournament in Inuvik.

Games kick off today at 4:30 with 17 teams from around the Beaufort Delta competing.

Cultural events and fundraisers will be going on all weekend in support of the John Wayne Kiktorak, but as organizer Donny Hendricks says, the hockey is the draw to the events.

I’m looking forward to some good hockey, we just have one tournament a year in Inuvik so this is the big one.

The arena is expected to be packed for what will be the 30th annual IRC tourney.
