Gwich’in Participants across the NWT voted for change this Spring. On Tuesday, President Bobbi-Jo Greenland Morgan and Vice President Jordan Petersen will officially take over from outgoing President James Wilson and VP Norman Snowshoe.
Greenland-Morgan says it’s been an intense last few days in Inuvik with last week’s transition meetings wrapping up.
“This is the first time in for our elections that there was a transition period,” said Greenland-Morgan.
The outgoing leaders will update the membership with 2015 reports. Financial reports will be front and centre on Wednesday, followed by a presentation on the rolling draft on Gwich’in Self Government.
Greenland-Morgan says Thursday is resolution day, which will form and give the new leaders their mandate for the year ahead.
Due to financial cutbacks CKLB radio will not be broadcasting this years assembly.
