Get ‘Active Grants’ Now Available To Community Organizations

The NWT Recreation Parks Assoication has announced that it will be providing grants to encourage community organizations to promote physical activity in the territory.

The ‘Get Active’ grants are in honour of Recreation and Parks month which takes places in June.

NWT RPA Director of Active Communities, Sheena Tremblay says, Community organizations can receive up to four hundred dollars to organize their own sporting event.

It’s pretty open. If it’s a gardening event on Intergenerational Day with youth and elders. If it’s a more formal kind of soccer event.  The options are pretty open and we do have a couple examples on our website.

Last year twenty-five organizations applied and Tremblay hopes more will participate this year.

Organizations interested in applying can visit:

The deadline is May 31st and there are limited spots.
