Frank Andrew re-elected as Tulita chief

Tulita’s election for chief wrapped up late Thursday, with news breaking this morning that Frank Andrew would be retaining the position.

After a longstanding run as chief, Douglas Yallie challenged Andrew for the position.

Some expected to see a new chief elected for the first time in over 15 years, with returning officer Beatrice Salopree saying many wanted some kind of change in Tulita.

Everybody said that they’ve been waiting for change for quite some time. I don’t know if they were referring to a new chief but I do know people are looking for change.

Tulita will also select 6 council members from a group of 13 today. The vote closes at 7 PM.
