Former Astronaut, now Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau will be visiting Whati next Monday.

Chief Alfonz Nitsiza says Garneau will be visiting with Premier Bob McLeod and Industry Tourism and Investment Minister Wally Schumann.

We’re kinda excited about the high level officials coming to visit, we wont have much time to meet, but I will tour them around the community.

Nitsiza says It’s unclear if any funding announcements will be made.

I think it all has to do with the all season road to our community, and get a look at our landscape, the proposed route and where the highway will go.

It will be a quick tour, so likely no time for Garneau and Premier to try the communities famous dry-fish.

The Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board had technical sessions for the Tlicho All-Season Road in Behchoko last week.
