Cancer survivor pilot project underway

Cancer survivor Louise Fraser, and patient Trevor Taylor attended the cancer survivor care training workshop last week in Fort Smith.

Creating a Cancer Survivor Care Plan. That’s part of a pilot project being created by survivors with the NWT Breast Health/Breast Cancer Action Group.

Cancer patient Trevor Taylor of Fort Smith notes the importance of the work this group is doing.

“I was lost, I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t know what way to turn, because this disease is not talked about. There’s still this stigma and oh people are scared of it, so finding information was hard until I walked into this group,” said Taylor.

The workshop he attended was held in Fort Smith last week. Both the communities of Fort Good Hope and Fort Smith are part of this pilot project.
