“Big Fun Snowboarding” Kicks off In Fort Smith

This weekend will be Fort Smith’s Big Fun Snowboarding Event.

The events start Friday night and although there is a competition aspect, Big Fun Snowboarding is mostly aimed to promote and grow the sport.

The contest is mainly for fun, but some Arctic Winter Games competitors will use Big Fun as a chance to get on the slopes again before next month’s games.

Program coordinator Jeff Schwartzenberger says this weekend’s events are very similar to what Arctic Winter Games competitors will see in March.

We’re going to run a boarder cross, we’re going to run a rail jam and a big air, which is three of the four parts that will be done for the Arctic Winter Games.

All competitors need their own equipment, and it costs 55 dollars for non members of the Fort Smith Club.
