Bell Let’s Talk Day A Success for Mental Health

Yesterday was Bell Let’s Talk day, the largest mental health initiative in Canada.

On Bell Let’s Talk Day, for any call or text made by a Bell customer, the company will donate 5 cents to mental health charities. Any tweet, Instagram or Facebook post using the hashtag Bell Let’s Talk will also result in a 5 cent donation and any Snapchat sent using the Bell Let’s Talk filter will result in the same.

Riley Deveau operates Trinity for Change, a company whose mandate is to promote mental health. He says although we’ve come along way with treating mental illness, there’s more work to be done.

I want it to be at a point where everybody can have access to information and be able to openly talk about mental health without any stigma surrounding it. Even though we are making strides likely, I feel as though we’re still a long way off.

Last year, Bell Let’s Talk day raised $6,585,250, and topped it with $6,919,199.
