Arts Organizations Receive Funding

The Government of Canada will be investing in the arts in Yellowknife.

MP Michael McLeod has announced that the government will be providing $727,000 in funding to three different arts organizations that focus on festivals and performance arts.

The three organizations receiving funds are the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC), Folk on The Rocks (FOTR) and the Association Franco-Cultuerelle De Yellowknife (AFCY).

The Association Franco-Cultuerelle De Yellowknife (AFCY) in particular will be receiving a total of $130,000. Executive Director, Pascaline Gréau says the funds will help the organization put together great events for the city.

The funding helps to bring the artists to do shows in town. To provide Francophone artists to do live festivals in town. Every year we are partnering with Folks on The Rocks. We are also partnering with NACC to do a festival.

The funds will come from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund and will be distributed to the organizations over a four year period.
