ADK elects new Chief and Council

Members of the Acho Dene Koe First Nation voted for change on Monday night.

Gene Hope was elected chief, edging out three other candidates. Hope received 115 votes, beating Frank Kotchea by a margin of 12 votes.

Councillors Joe Bertrand, Irene McLeod, Dennis Nelson were re-elected to council. They were part of the previous administration which suspended former Chief Harry Deneron.

Deneron was unsuccessful in his bid for a council seat receiving the least votes with 72.

The three new members of council are Roger Bertrand, Angus Capot-Blanc, and Morris Mcleod.

They will serve a three year term.
