The completion of the 1200 kilometer Mackenzie Valley Fibre Optic Line was celebrated in Inuvik yesterday.

Finance Minister Robert C. McLeod and other territorial ministers marked the occasion with representatives from Ledcor and Northwestel at the Aurora Research Institute.

The fibre optic line is expected to be online soon, increasing data collection and streaming video such as Netflix easier from the Dehcho to the Beaufort Delta.

The $82-million project has been undergoing performance testing since construction wrapped up in late March.
